Half-Life 2: Episode Two Trailer

Episode Two ties directly to the end of Episode One. The citadel of City 17 has exploded, derailing the train that was supposed to take Alyx and Gordon out of town. The two now have to make their way through the outskirts of City 17 to bring a message stolen from the citadel with important information to the resistance.

To The White Forest

Gordon wakes up alone in the derailed train and is released by Alyx with the Gravity Gun. In the fresh air, they observe a portal tower, which emanates from the remains of the ruined citadel. Alyx manages to contact Dr. Eli Vance, dr. Kleiner and Dr. Magnusson (another survivor of the Black Mesa incident) – the leaders of the resistance. You are in White Forest, an old rocket launching base that now serves as the headquarters. From them they learn that the Combine are trying to build a super portal to their homeworld to bring more troops to Earth. However, the resistance works on a weapon that closes the portal. For this to work, they need the access code they suspect in the record from the citadel. Alyx and Gordon are now trying to get to headquarters as soon as possible. Shortly thereafter, they are attacked by a hunter who seriously injured Alyx. Gordon loses consciousness and awakens again, as a Vortigauntappears. He frees Gordon and tells him about a nearby cave where he can heal Alyx. After calling for further vortigaunts, they set out on their way. On the way, however, the two are separated and Gordon has to travel the rest of the way alone.

This Vortal Coil

Gordon finds himself in an old mine. The tunnels and caves are used by the ant lions (originally Antlions ) as a structure where they raise their brood. Gordon looks for a way through the building, where he is attacked by the ant lions. Finally, he meets the Vortigaunt again and realizes that Alyx is near death. While waiting for the remaining Vortigaunts, Gordon must defend the cave with two resistance fighters from the waves of the ant lions. Finally, one last large-scale attack by the ant lions is fought off with the three hurrying Vortigaunts; it then succeeds in stabilizing Alyx’s condition. To heal them, however, an essence from the building of the ant lions needed. Gordon therefore sets off with a Vortigaunt on the way into the heart of the ant lions, past an angry poisonous ant lions guard. Arrived in the heart of the building, the Vortigaunt reaps the substance from the ant lions’ honeycombs, and the two return. Gordon is invited to attend the ceremony. The Vortigaunts begin with Alyx’s healing. As a result, their concentration is distracted and the G-Mancan contact Gordon. He conjures Gordon that the weapon must be used against the Combine portal necessarily. He also whispers to Alyx to warn her father of “unforeseen consequences.” The ceremony is then ended and Alyx is saved. Together with Alyx and the Vortigaunt Gordon sets out to find a repaired by the rebels car, with which they get to White Forest faster.

Freeman Pontifex

On the surface, the Gordon, Alyx and Vortigaunt find that the Combine sends all remaining units to White Forest to prevent the use of the weapon. On the way to the car, the three have to defend themselves again against a normal and a poisonous ant lions guard. They come to an old factory with the car on the bridge. Gordon now – covered by Alyx on a stationary sniper rifle – has to break through the factory to the other side of the bridge, hampered by zombies and radioactive waste. On the other side, he can recover the car and open the way to the bridge. Since the car only has two seats, the Vortigaunt remains behind and Alyx and Gordon make their own way to White Forest.

Riding Shotgun

On the way to White Forest, Alyx and Gordon are repeatedly attacked by the Combine. In an apparently abandoned house, they meet an advisor who tries to kill them. An explosion can free them and the Advisor flees injured. In pursuit of a Hunter chopper your vehicle is damaged. They have to stop at a rebel base to repair their car. Gordon kills the Hunter Chopper by throwing its mines back with the Gravity Gun and destroying it.

Under The Radar

At the other end of the rebel base, an auto-fire system must be destroyed before the ride can continue. Alyx and Gordon continue fighting through a zombie infested area. In a deserted village, they are again in a massive ambush of the Combine. On the last few meters to White Forest, a strider emerges from the wreckage of a DropShip, but is defeated by Alyx’s robot Dog.

Our Mutual Fiend

The Resistance weapon is a satellite that will close the portal from its orbit. However, the launch of the rocket is at risk, as long as Strider are nearby. A supposed false alarm in the second rocket silo turns out to be a Combine attack. After the attack has been stopped and the silo closed, you start to analyze the stolen data from the citadel. It is a transfer of Dr. med. Mossman, in a shot of a vanished ship (a reference to the Philadelphia Experiment) is hidden by the name Borealis. On the Borealis, Aperture Science Laboratories, a rival company to the Black Mesa, conducted research whose results could bring tremendous benefit to the resistance. Dr. However, Vance believes that this dangerous research should be destroyed. In addition, he betrays Gordon in confidence that he is the G-Man known and this is directly responsible for the events in Black Mesa. Alyx and Gordon decide to go to the Borealis after launching the rocket. First, however, is the expected large-scale attack of the Combine: Strider attack accompanied by hunters in waves and try to destroy the rocket with the satellite. With the help of Dr. Magnusson developed custody mines, but the silo can be protected.

T-Minus One

The rocket is launched successfully and the super portal is destroyed. Gordon and Alyx now want to go to Dr. Mossman to recover the Borealis. Dr. Vance, however, asks Gordon if he finds the Borealis to destroy them. Shortly before the start of the helicopter, the hall is attacked by two advisors. They kill Dr. Vance and also want to kill Alyx, but Dog hurries to help and routs the Advisors. Gordon faints. The last thing he hears is Alyx’s lamentation over her dead father.
